Colt King Cobra ID

Trying to figure out why one of my King Cobras has the cobra image on the right side plate. Is this an old Cobra or a custom shop gun? Thanks for any help.

    I've only seen them on the barrel, like this. Is yours also, marked on the barrel? What's the SN range? Might be able to figure, the approximate DOM from that.

    Serial number is EC4457. Barrel has cobra on it and is recessed at muzzle.

    Can't find your serial number. Call Colt customer service at this number, during normal business hours. 1-800-962-COLT(2658)

    They won't give you any info other than DOM. I don't know if even a "Colt Letter", would be able to verify the Cobra marking on the frame?
