Quality leather rifle sling?
Hey everyone i am looking for a nice leather rifle sling for my marlin camp 9. It has a generic leather sling on it now that came with it when i bought it but i think it looks to cheap and is red/brown in color and does not suit the rifle at all. Anyone have expirience with any other leather slings or expirience with any company that makes them. Also i was thinkin maybe about a brown paracord sling. I have two on my ruger rifles and love how the look feel and how durable they are plus in a bind paracord could be used for a bunch of things. Thanks for any input

Tons of youtube vid's on how to make your own paracord sling. Coyote brown would be a nice choice. Perhaps a add a magazine pouch just down from your shoulder. 0 -
I ad a leather sling break once. I stick with nylon now. The paracord thing sounds like an interesting idea too. If you go with leather, oil it and keep your eye on it fot thin spots. The one I had was the kind with the shoulder pad. The pad was stitched across the strap to fasten it. It tore right across that stitching because I ever got any oil down in there. 0 -
Leather looks nice, but synthetic is lighter, less subject to rot, and stronger.
I like paracord, and some of the woven designs are pretty interesting in their own right. Obviously, the paracord itself could be useful in a pinch.
I think the best thing about a paracord sling is you can make it exactly the sling exactly the way you like it: Custom length, custom colors, custom hardware, etc. Paracord is so popular for these types of things that its now available in all sorts of colors and configurations, including multiple types of camo patterns, and even reflective and glow-in-the dark types!
You can buy pre-made paracord rifle slings, though its cheaper (and I think more fun/satisfying) to make one yourself.0 -
I have a Brownells Latigo sling on my Savage 99. Looks like it belongs on the gun and is very nicely made and durable. You would have to break your rifle in half to break a good quality sling.

I have a couple and move one to whatever rifle I am hunting with. Simple, strong, durable.0 -
3404speed,
I have to second 'He Dog's recommendation for the Montana rifle slings. We use several dozen of these each year on our hunting rifles. Pat Sinclair is a gentleman's gentleman. There is no finer human being walking this earth.
Be sure to look at his cartridge carriers also.
