Remington 700 with "chamber adapter"
My dad recently purchased a really nice Remington 700 in .30-06. Got it home, took it to the bench to check it out, and it would not chamber a round. Through some measuring and test fitting, we found it has a chamber adapter for .300 Savage. Is there a simple method of getting the adapter out? Thanks

I have seen adapters to make it a 308 W. Use a really tight patch. 0 -
Depending how it has been "sleeved". Some sleeves are just interference fit. Others might be additionally secured with epoxy.
As the body diameter of the 300 Savage, is virtually the same as the 30-06. The sleeve will only be at the front of the chamber. It will be in the area of the neck and shoulder, of the shorter 300 Savage cartridge.
Your going to have to find a very competent gunsmith. Getting the sleeve out, with out screwing up the original 30-06 chamber. Might be problematical and expensive?0 -
One possible recommendation is to use a "broken shell extractor" as per several adapter's manufacturers. Search MCACE chamber adapters, he sells those extraction tools for $10 -Good success ! 0 -
+1 on broken shell extractor for 30/06 0 -
Another + for a broken shell extractor. Been there done that.
I would try that first, if not like Rufe said: Gunsmith0 -
The .300 Savage is a lot better cartridge than we give it credit for. I'd shoot it as is. Your Dad would have something different in deer camp! I have a couple of Remington 700's in .300 Savage; a classic and a BDL. The .300 in a bolt gun is quite a cartridge. But if you really need to get the adapter out, you may have to resort to a chamber reamer and cut it out. 0 -

I would heat the chamber up slightly to soften any Loctite or sleeving compound they might have used then pop a shell extractor in there and see if it comes out.0
