The 1/2 octagon barrel is not "rare" per se, but it is not common either.

The tang sight is a Lyman No. 1, and it should have a "W" marked on the underside of the sight base.

The overall condition of the rifle is much better than average, and it is definitely a "collector" grade Winchester.

    Thank You Bert.

Half octagon half round with "full magazine". I thought they usually came with "half magazines" seemed kinda odd with the full magazine.

I'm going to mention that the way your photos are linked, an entire album is available for viewing, and not just the five photos in your thread.

More often than not, a short magazine was ordered with the 1/2 octagon barrel, but not always. For the Model 1894, it is not uncommon to find Full length magazine tubes with 1/2 octagon barrels.

Replaced the buggered-upped screw, the only one on the rifle, nearest the receiver for the tang peep sight. The buggered-upped screw turned out to be an old tang plug screw not the proper type screw for the tang peep sight when compared to the rear tang screw. Original screw was probably lost and replaced. When I removed Tang sight it had a "W" on its bottom.

    Thanks Again Bert
