Win Model 12 carrier

I was looking at Winchester Model 12 trigger assemblies for sale and noticed that the carriers were different on some. Were the earlier trigger assemblies different? What years are different?

  some of the early carriers had a side 'wing' to keep the round being fed from falling out the side. this proved unecessary.
