Fake 03a4
There's a nasty fake 03a4 listed and people have bid on it. Should I say something or keep my mouth shut?

Caveat Emptor. Unless you have some way of contacting the bidders directly. Unfortunately, you're wasting your time. 0 -
If you are concerned to a degree that you are losing sleep or can no longer eat, you can contact GB seller who has listed the rifle. Chances are good that he won't be happy to hear from you. 0 -
A search for "O3A4" found only one with no bidders? "O3a4" produced the same result.
Perhaps you could tell us what is wrong, I like learning new things to watch out for.0 -

I believe you're using the letter o instead of the number 0 (zero).0 -

I agree with the previous posts.
It is not an original 1903A4.

Neither the seller or the bidders will be happy, if you tell them.0 -
The Remington 1903 rifle that he also has listed has been "improved" by the same hand.
When you own a pawn shop or gun store, you just can't be an expert on everything. I suspect he got these rifles at a really good price, & figured it was worth taking a chance.
If you want to notify him, please pass along to us the response.

The markings are in the right place, the serial number is in range; what do you see wrong with it? All 1903-A4 rifles were marked 1903-A3, not 1903-A4. 0 -

You "should" say something only if you're interested in bidding on it. Not sure contacting the seller is going to accomplish anything, but you "could" try.
Not disagreeing with your conclusion (I honestly know nothing about these and have no opinion either way), but what makes you say its a "nasty fake"?0 -
It is a fake because it is not a real original 1903A4.
And it is nasty. What IS that crud in the gas vent hole in the receiver ring?
I don't think the markings ARE in the right place. All other examples I can find pictures of, the make and model markings are offset enough to be completely visible beside the scope base. These are partly covered. And the advertisement does not show the serial number at all. I wonder if it might have a little overlap, too.0 -
It's the listing dcs shooters linked.
I realize that a pawn shop may not be knowledgeable about the fire arms they sell. I sure hate to see buyers get the shaft, but the bidder should know what he's bidding on at that price.
That rifle is possibly the biggest turd I've ever seen.0 -

The Receiver marking looks like it's been done with a pantograph, fonts are wrong and spacing is off. I'm comparing it to my a4 and photo's of many others. The mount and rings are repro, missing "REDFIELD" on mount.. The scope is a Lyman Alaskan that's been scrubbed and remarked, you can see the scrub marks. You can see part of the "2.5 POWER" on the eyepiece, no sunshade, fonts and spacing are all wrong. My brain exploded when looking at the stock cartouches.0
