Need some help wuick
I am bedding a Mauser and the rear action screw is not moving. I put the release agent and nothing. I got the front one removed.
How would I go about removing the rear action screw? Heat?
Thanks

Heat would probably be a good start. I'd use a soldering iron so that you can heat just the screw and not damage the stock 0 -
I agree. Hold the soldering iron tip against the screw head is a good start. On the Mauser, you can actually put the tip right on the threaded end by reaching in from the top. 0 -
If the heat don't work, try freezing it... 0 -
Got the screw loose from the threads but only turn about 1/8. Thinking the screw is freeze in the spacer. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Soak some Kroil oil in from both ends if you can. Leave it work for a day or two. The freezer works on some epoxies. A sharp wrap while still frozen can help. One of the hammer powered impact tools with a proper fitting bit is handy. A screwdriver that has provisions' for using a wrench is good. Push in hard with one hand and use the wrench to apply torque. Work back and forth.
More heat. A bright cherry red properly sized rod held to the screw. I'd try and warm both ends at the same time. 2 rods, two people.
Drill the head off.
I ruined a tiger striped maple stock once because an area about "00" that big stuck to the action on the side. Pro tip, I now apply release agent at least twice, allowing it to dry between coats. Some area's could get 3 coats.0 -
Thanks all. Got the screw out with the spacer. No big deal. Just need to install a new one. The screwdriver with a wrench work.
I have done over a hundred of bedding job and I never have a problem till this one.
Thanks again all
