Overseas shipping
I have been approached by a GB member that is currently living overseas. He is interested in an Ideal tool with mould that I have up for auction. Anyone know if this tool can be shipped overseas, what might be involved and is it worth the effort? I'll probably spend the next hour or so trying to find info on the internet but thought I could get some opinions. He is in Sweden.

I think you can send tools without much issues. Just declare the value and pay the import fees. So is it an old ideal 3 or 10 with the mold attached or the nice ones that allow the mold to be changed out? Someday I hope to find a really minty one in 45-70 at real bargain.
added So is it 32-20? Antique tools are on the ban list? wow.0 -
The US Munitions List is a huge data base of items that may not be exported, & it is broken down by country. Unfortunately, access is by paid subscription only.
And, you need to know the import requirements of the country to which you are sending an item.
There's a good chance that your package will be seized & destroyed. The only way I have exported a gun or shooting related item is if the person in the other country retains a US agent (an FFL with an export license).

it is just easyer to confine sales to within the USA borders,, 0 -
I have shipped some things to Denmark, try this US Postal site for Sweden.

this will give you an idea if your item is considered restricted. if your ok, than you need to fill out a small declarations form at the post office declaring it's contents and value that attaches to the front of your package.0 -
Make sure he pays for insurance. I had a $250 knife a guy in the UK that he didn't pay NS. fee on and it disappeared between the Chicago PO and custom's [xx(][:(!] Now I'm SOL [B)][:(!] 0 -
Half the time the insurance is BS anyway. They make you prove it was packaged correctly, labeled correctly, yada yada yada. After arguing with them for 2 months most people just say the hell with it and take the loss.
As for shipping out of the US it can be tough to figure out what is allowed where. I had a scope for sale that a guy in Canada wanted and had it all packaged up and ready to go then found out that it was illegal in the great white north due to the reticle.quote:Originally posted by dcs shooters

I ship and receive from foreign countries all the time. I got an Mercedes licence plate from Germany in today.
Ship it. It's an antique tool worth about US$8 It will cost about $38 to ship and you get tracking.
Folks that don't ship don't know jack.
ADDENDUM: I did have some Nazi daggers going to Switzerland and a bayonet going to the Russian Republic kicked back, but they were both shipped back to me just fine.0 -
"antique tool " written on customs declaration label when You send it[;)].Make sure He agrees any problems that arise after You mail it are His responsibility 0 -
For many of the reasons listed above, I WILL NOT attempt to sell or ship any item even REMOTELY connected to firearms outside the US. There are too many countries that have their peculiar import/export laws to even try to make sense of. JMHO and I'm likely missing a lot of potential buyers but I feel I'm missing a lot of potential problems, too.
