First thing that comes to mind is Bent barrel. Second thing is I would start from the idea of centering both sights in their dovetail and then remember to move rear sight in the direction you want the group to move . and remember move the front sight in the reverse direction you want the group to move.

Can't add much to what Perry said.

Are you sure you've moved the sights in the correct directions?

If gun is shooting to RIGHT, you want to move the rear sight to the LEFT. Alternatively, you can move the front sight to the RIGHT.

If the rear sight is all the way to the left and the front one to the right, and your POI is still way off, then something is seriously amiss with either the gun, or your method of aiming.

Boresighting through the barrel (with bolt out) should give you a sense of where the bullet is *supposed* to go. It might also give you a clue if the barrel is bent. Maybe try that and see if the actual point of impact and boresighted one are close. If they are, you can then adjust the sights (starting from middle) accordingly.

You can stretch a taunt white thread threw the bore to see if the barrel is bent. Have you looked at the crown?

You could also try putting your thumb on one side of the barrel and fingers on the other and running them down the length of the barrel with just slight contact. If there is a bulge in the barrel you may be able to feel it. This can affect bullet path, especially if close to the muzzle. If you do think there is a bulge remove the bolt and look down the barrel with a good light at the other end. A bulge will look like a ring shadow in the rifling.

Maybe a damaged crown on muzzle?

Does it group well ? If it does it is most probably not a bad crown, as bad crowns normally make a shotgun pattern of multiple shots.
If the sights are moved as perry shooter has suggested and you still can't get it to center, my call is bent barrel.

Good advice here. Curious as to what you find. I have most versions of the 500 series Remingtons and have never had an issue like this. They all are extremely accurate and never had a sighting in problem. Someone already asked how the group size was. How is it?
