How does Buyer verify that Seller is current FFL?
How does a prospective Buyer verify that a GB Seller sporting an "FFL Holder" icon on his listing page is, in fact, a current Licensee?
How does the committed Buyer's shipment-receiving FFL verify that the GB Seller is a current Licensee?

As a prospective bidder, you have no need to verify that a seller's FFL is valid. And, most will not waste time debating this with a prospective bidder. You should base your decision to bid on the seller's description of the item, & his feedback.
If the seller is an FFL holder, he will include a copy of his license with the gun, for your FFL's records. This is required by federal regulations.

Dealers are not required to include a copy but it is common courtesy. Dealers are required to have a copy of the receiving dealers FFL but not required to retain it only to log it into their A&D books.0 -
Thanks for the prompt & professional answers to my questions.
I have one two-part concern, though:
The FFL Holder icon creates a huge comfort factor for the prospective Buyer.
Does GB independently verify that the Seller's License is "in good standing" before GB issues the icon?
Does GB double-check the status of the License periodically?0 -
Dealer to dealer transactions require an exchange of licenses, either hard copies or by so called electronic means: FAX or email. This is handled by your dealer and does not involve you, the unlicensed bidder. Requests for FFL copies by non licensees are usually round filed by most dealers, myself included.
The receiving dealer can use the BATF automated license check system to verify that another dealers FFL is valid. Whether or not Gun Broker runs these checks periodically is a customer service question, and outside of the focus of these forums, which are in no way connected to the auctions.0 -

Yes.
From the auction side -- if one wants to add an FFL license to one's account information:
"Enter your license number. We only use this information to check against the BATF database to verify that you are a valid licensee for the protection of out customers. We do NOT display your license number to the public."0 -
If you really want to, you can look them up if you got business name, personal name, or address.

I know I did for my first purchase cause I wasn't 100% sure how things were gonna play out.0 -
On the ATF web site you can enter the FFL# that is either sending or receiving the firearm. It will tell you if the number is valid and give the shop name and address as well as the expiration date. Make a copy of that page after you check and keep it in your records. If you are sending to that FFL only send to the name and address that is listed via ATF. That way you are not dealing with someone photoshoping and putting in a fake shipping address. 0
