What twist?

1 in 8 or 8.5 would be good, for those weights. However the 1 in eight would work with the 140's, and possibly the 160's

One of my favorite rifles as a kid was dad's 256 Newton QT built by A&M. It would shoot really well with 87 to 180 grain bullets. I think the twist rate was 1 in 7.5 thus the Quick Twist. I haven't seen bullets bigger than 160 grain for sale in years.

If you want to know the twist for a particular bullet weoght
in a given caliber, google the greenhill formula and do the math.

    hadjii,

Those are light to intermediate weight bullets so they require only a mild twist rate if those are the only bullets you want to shoot.

1:10" is sufficient for these but if you ever decide to go longer (heavier) you'll need something in the range of 1:9", 1:8.7" or even 1:8.2" which we use for Match bullets, VLD's and Hybrids.

    Best.
