HK 91 Trigger Group
I picked up a new PTR 91 and it came with the poly trigger housing. Nothing wrong with it, but I prefer the metal trigger housing. I see a wide variety and range of prices. I'd like a plain old metal housing, I understand I'd have to buy a "metal specific" selector switch if I use parts from the plastic unit.
I want the unit to just drop in - I see "pinned & clipped" and have no idea what that means. Is there any reason this unit won't work without further modification?

I use SARCO and Numrich often, they're a little too hit or miss when it comes to condition. I simply want a close to "like new" metal trigger housing that I can hook onto the PTR. Any suggestions?

The link provided show what is known as a pinned, or swing-down trigger group and is OEM on the G-3 selective fire rifles. Before anyone points it out, I am well aware that the very early commercial imports also used this type of trigger group. Current HK-91 type rifles cannot use this type of group because their receivers were modified to block the pin hole where this group would attach. Instead of the pin, the semi autos use what is a called a clip on group which slides into the area at the rear of the magazine well. If you have the skill, you can take a swing down group and cut it to fit, but you'll need to remove the full auto Release Lever from the trigger mechanism. In addition to the selective fire issues, the FA mechanism is not designed to work with the modified semi automatic bolt carriers.
The trigger group you are looking at can only be used in a receiver that looks like this (note the pin hole):

When an advert reads that a FA trigger housing has been "pinned & clipped" does that remedy the issue, allowing it to be used in newer HK 91s and PTRs? 0 -
As I mentioned, it is possible to take a pinned housing and cut it in order to allow it to fit a semi receiver. How well it fits depends on how carefully the cutting job was done, but it has to slide in just right or there is a good chance that the hammer won't fall correctly.
I have no way of knowing exactly what "pinned an clipped" really means.0
