Rem 721 DOM

My brother has inherited a Remington 721 from his FIL and he is looking for the DOM. He told me that the barrel code is K77X. Thanks in advance.

  My WAG is that what appears to be "77", is actually "ZZ". If that is correct? The 721 would date to May of 1953.

  Thanks Rufe-snow, I just called my brother and confirmed that it was a very lightly stamped ZZ not a 77. Thank you very much for your help.
