Sheared off allthread.

I have a RCBS case trimmer that I threaded a piece off allthread into so I could use my drill as a motor and have a poor mans power case trimmer. Well, after a few thousand cases it sheared off inside the case trimmer shaft. I am looking for suggestions on how to get the broke piece out of it.

  Take the shaft out of the trimmer, and center drill the allthread(threaded rod). Then use a broken screw extractor(EZ-out) to back it out. Before you go cranking on the broken screw extractor, I usually give it a couple taps with a ballpeen hammer, to "seat it", into the piece being extracted.

  Lesson learned?? Threaded rod is only marginally stronger than tissue paper.

  Not sure how you configured in the all-thread to begin with? And maybe applying too much pressure on the cases, (cutting too fast), was what gave up the ghost with the All-thread after those thousands of rounds? But no matter, it'll come out, and be sloppy with the penetrating and/or cutting oil, too.
  
  On my decades old RCBS manual trimmer, I did the same idea, there abouts, with a hand drill. Except just chucked up the drill right onto the cutter shaft itself.(After taking the handle assembly off, obviously).
  Still works like a dream after all this time.

  Or cheat and simply replace the crank handle screw with a Socket Head Cap Screw (Allen head screw) and than purchase a "Ball Head" Allen Wrench. Cut off the ball end and chuck that into your drill.

  Not in the places I buy bolts. What do you cut it to length with?

  Hacksaw, or grinder/die grinder with cut-off wheel, or a chop saw.

  Went a different route than the easy out. I had my friend who is a machinist take care of it. He drilled and tapped it for .25" by 20. Just did a couple hundred 22-250 and it worked like a charm.
