Like anything Russian, they do what they were built for.
Kalinka sells better upgrade options. I replaced the 4X on my PSL with their 8X. With the 8X and a Red Star trigger, it actually has potential to be used for a sniper rifle.[:)]

I bought a POSP 4x with a rangefinder and illuminated reticule, from Kalinka. The scope is made by 'Belomo', the trade name for the Belarussian Optical/Mechanical Company in Minsk. Belomo is actually a joint enterprise between Belarus and Carl Zeiss. Interestingly, the scope has the 'Zenit' logo of a pre-war watchmaker. The instruction manual is in Cyrillic (Russian), but Kalinka has complete English instructions for these scopes on their website.

Everything about the scope is excellent. Once zeroed, the graduated turret rings can be reset to zero, and from then on you can do mil-adjustments for different ranges and always return to true zero without guesswork.

The scopes come with either the AK or SVD mounting systems which enable a return to zero if removed and re-installed. Kalinka also sells bases and adapters which enable them to be mounted on other weapons, in addition to different versions altogether which are nearly universal.

My scope was around $275, and I think a person would be hard-put to find a scope that is more rugged and more field-usable, at any price.
