  S & W made top breaks from the 1860's to the 1930's. Caliber and barrel markings, will go a long way in helping to identify for DOM.

  Fourth Model, 38 Double Action. Early 1900's? No specific date given. Except it was made after 1898, (382,000). Prior to end of production in 1909 at serial number 539,000.
