spring. govt mod. ...hammer falls when the slide release is used.dosnt fall if you rack by hand.any suggestions as what to look at internally to correct this?thanks ..mike

  Hammer or sear. Might be the 3 fingered spring. Take it apart and clean it really well. Hard to describe but inspect the working surfaces of the hammer and sear with a hand lens. Look for angle changes and damage areas.
  
  They can be fixed but most folks due better to just change out both.

  I think that you need to post photos of your gun.
  
  And, you need to give us a little more information. Is this a new gun? Used? Unknown? Parts gun? Someone else's gun?

  used sprg. factory gun.hammer seems damaged on the uppermost sear seat.ill replace the hammer/sear/spring//thanks as always great input

  FORGE MONKEY has the correct test to find out why you have this problem. I agree Full auto will get your attention.
