Stroebel's book, circa 2000. Dates DOM, between 1980 & 84. His estimated value circa 2000, $175- $225. Check fleabay for current actual selling prices. Lots of Weavers show up on fleabay.

From my experience with fixed power spotting scopes. I can't see a 30X scope used for hunting. To hard to pick up the animal your hunting, at variable unknown distances. With a scope of that magnification.

To me it would be used as a target scope, for known distance shooting.

"To me it would be used as a target scope, for known distance shooting."............These were very good scopes in their day. the 30x would be good for 'group' shooting or possibly prairie dogs.

imo,, would not be a varmit hunting rig scope to carry in field as stated. It would be a great scope to put on a period rifle or bench, target shooting. The old steel cased Weavers have a following and I think you would be north of 250 on the f-bag,,but you have to pay about 25-30% of various fees in selling there.

I used a T25 for awhile. Wasn't as clear as a Leupold BR model, but worked well for target / varmint use. I really liked the adjustment knobs.

Like alot of shooters I use period correct scopes on older rifles, the Weaver would be quite the set up on a Remington 788 rifle in 222 or 223. Using it on the Winchester 70 HB in 220 Swift would be a nice combination too.

Eye placement on the higher powered scopes can be a bit of a challenge, but then again so is the limited field of view. For kerplunking woodchucks I think it would do well. A 6 to 24X might be a better set up though. I think you could get about $250.00 for it.
