I think it's a 41 Swiss 1869 Vetterli rifle. 0 -
Yes, but SPORTERIZED!
ALFA shows them for 12-18 marks in 1911 when a new 8mm Mauser was 150 marks.0 -
At this link is a excellent history of the Swiss Vetterli rifles. I don't understand the manufacturers name that is marked on yours though?
V. Erlach & Co. of Thun, aren't listed as being manufacturers of the Vetterli?

EDIT #1,
To Tmsmitty. Without quality photos. We had no way of identifing and pricing your Vetterli.0 -
Very interesting rifle. Is it in firing condition, and have you shot it? 0 -
Erlach is not shown as a primary manufacturer, but ARE listed under markings. Thun is a city in Bern Canton.
Those are in 41 Swiss Rimfire, and last time I looked, they were strictly collector's cartridges. I know a professor at Va Tech that shoots one- but he converted in to centerfire.0 -
Thanks for all the great info fella's. It will cock & fire pin drops but not sure if it fires, no ammo[:p]. Anyone care to WAG a price? Just a ball park figure. 0 -
So did anyone find a price for these guns? i just bought one and i have no clue about it? It was ten bucks at a lawn sale! Figured it was worth a shot. 0 -
