    hawkshaw....... you can purchase a timney spring kit from BROWNELLS and others.
    you will have 2 springs. a medium and lite spring. these are very easy to drop in.
    just check the normal...... make sure it will not release with the bump test and slam the bolt home test. follow their instructions and you will be fine.

    Expecting criticism , I used a spring from an ink pen once.
    It worked perfect.
    As mentioned, do the bump test.

    I tried the pen spring, and it worked like a champ!!!!! I now have a perfect 2 1/4 lb trigger.(and thirty bucks in my pocket). I've beat on it slammed the bolt, and it will not fire. I like it. THX

    A lot of time, too much concentration is put on the weight of the pull, instead of the geometry of the sear/striker/hammer relation. If you had a 5 pound trigger with no creep/pre-travel, and no over travel, you could do just as good, or better at the bench, and in the field, as you can with a lite trigger, with lots of travel.

    Lightening the trigger, is not always the best answer, although is all to often resorted to, to try to fix things.

    You need to address the sear engagement on that trigger.
