Winchester 94 forend strap
I would like to switch the metal strap that holds the forend to the barrel from my pre-64(1955)with the one on my post-63(1976)providing they are identical.
The pre rifle has an area with blueing loss on the strap whereas the post one is perfect.
The only other issue with the older 94 is that the sight hood is very worn on one side.
I see that factory new old stock hoods are available.
Can anyone tell me if the straps are of the same quality and are interchangeable?
I don't want to do anything that might lessen the pre-64s value.
Thank You.

Just exactly how much "pre-64" are you referring to?
Generally speaking, the barrel bands are not interchangeable from a post-63 to a pre-64.
If you do not want to decrease teh value of your pre-64, leave it alone.0 -
Bert H,
1955.
post 63 1976.
When you say barrel bands are you referring to both the tube to barrel and forend to barrel ones?
Please excuse my ignorance.0 -
Yes, I am referring to both the front and the rear barrel bands. That stated, the barrel bands might interchange on a late production pre-64 with 1970s vintage Model 94... I have never tried doing it. 0 -
If the only issue is the appearance because of blue wear, why not get a tube or bottle of cold blue and rub the worn areas until they look good. That would be preferable to replacing them with new parts, IMHO.

After taking some rough measurements it looks like the sight has to come off to remove the band.
Ill leave it alone as suggested by Bert H.0 -
If you remove the magazine tube, you can rotate the band 180 degrees and it should slip over the front sight. 0 -
Thank You Cheechako.
Its always good to learn something.
thanks again.0
