    It will certainly last longer than a plastic guide rod, though bluntly, I think you'd probably have a pretty hard time wearing out your plastic one, and even if you did, its a pretty cheap part to replace.

    In theory the extra weight up front from a metal rod will reduce recoil; in practice, you're not talking about a lot of extra weight here. I'd think most of the difference in perceived recoil described by the Amazon reviewers is due to the higher weight SPRING, which may reduce slide/frame battery a bit, not this rod.

    The gun was designed to use a plastic rod. Steel rods do not flex and will wear your slide prematurely.

    No. There's no point in trying to gild the lilly.
    I'd rather put wear into a guide rod than a slide.
