J.C. Higgins manufacturer.
I just got in a J.C. Higgins model 50 bolt action 30-06 with a 22" barrel. This rifle has a FN action, marked Made in Belgium. The scope is marked J.C. Higgins Rifleman Senior 4X, with what look like period Weaver mounts.
I looked in the Store Brand crossover in the back of the 35th edition of The Blue Book, but, can't find a model 50. They list a model 52, made by Sako, but this is not a Sako. I think it may be an early post war Browning, but, I'm guessing.
So, the question is, who built it?
Thanks for the help.

High Standard made the Models 50, 51, 51-l, and 52 for Sears. For the Models 50 and 51, High Standard utilized actions made by FN and High Standard made the balance.Models 50 and 51 were available in .30-06 and .270. The Model 51 was a deluxe version of the model 50. The MOdel 51-L utilized a HVA action and High Standard made the balance. The Model 51-L was available in .30-06, .308, .270, and .243. The model 52 utilized a Sako action and High Standard made the balance. The model 52 was available in .222 0 -
Does anyone know who made the scope?
Thank you.

W.D., Weaver made em.
Often overlooked and under rated because it says JC Higgins on it. You couldn't build an FN commercial action with that quality of a barrel and scope today, for twice what it's worth.0
