I need info on a JAPANESE TYPE 14 pistol with '00' above the serial number. What does this mean?

  That said, the Type 14's were dated starting in 1927. The first year of the reign of emperor Hirohito. Sight unseen? Yours might be a early manufactured, Type 14?

  I've never seen a pistol with 00 like that, but on the rifles, it means the rifle has been relagated to school use.
  Does the barrel still have rifling?
