Lyman Alaskan "A", "B" Prefix
Hello All,
With regards to the "A" and "B" prefix on some Lyman Alaskan scopes, is there any military connection to the lot that have them? Was there any other reason for it? I've seen arguments both pro and con. Thank you.

While a few Alaskans were furnished to the War Dept for evaluation, the only versions purchased by the US military (beginning October 1944) were M81 & M82 scopes. That's according to Peter Senich.

OK, but what was the reason for the prefix?0 -
I checked a friends scope and it's an "A" prefix, but since I don't know of a pre A or a B prefix scope for comparison, I don't know what the differences would be- but if someone has a "B", I can get ahold of the "A" and post some pics for comparison. 0 -
