old flintlock ID
I have spent a day reseaching and have come up with little.
Thought to ask the GB community for help.
Looked at several guns yesterday and one peaked my interest.
Very high quality spainish flintlock. Ornate carved stock, "Ion Lobinger in Wienn" marked lock. The barrel is marked at the breech

DEZ in a rectangle with a crown above it. Also a horse stamped in a square. Both these symbols are stamped in gold.
Octagon to round barrel with lots of fancy brass inlay work.
Very light rifle which surprised me having a thick stock and 30" plus barrel.
What I found out is I believe this was made by Casper Fernandez, armsmith to the spainish court. 1670's - 1690's. If someone has info or could point me to a website that would be great.....Thanks - Bert

Wienn = Vienna, Austria, lock made in Vienna. As you describe it the barrel marking is typically Spanish. On high quality barrels the marking is often on an inlay of gold & breaking a name in separate letters is usual. Spanish made barrels had a high reputation in the day and are often seen on arms made elsewhere. Some good pictures will probably be necessary to add to the info you already have. Finding a forum or a specialist for reliable ID may prove to be a crap shoot. 0 -
