shooting .556 cal. in mini-14?

hello, need to know if it is ok to fire .556 ammo I a mini-14 or .223 marked ammo only?

It is dependent on what the twist rate is in your Mini-14. If yours has the slower 1 in 10 twist, as compared to the 1 in 7, or 1 in 9, it might not stabilize the heavier bullets like the 69 grainer's.

My brother has been shooting 5.56 in his Mini for 30 years, and it ain't missed a lick yet.

When all else fails, READ THE DIRECTIONS. In this case, the manual from Ruger. You may use 5.56 or .223, EXCEPT in the TARGET model rifle, which should only be fed .223.
