Winchester ??
As far as future appreciation how much will the carving in the stock effect the long term value.
And it seems I see something odd with the magazine tube?
I was throwing around working on the trade end for this gun any advise will be appreciated.

Don't know beans about vintage Winchesters. Wouldn't buy something like this, for thousands of dollars. Unless I was a Winchester pro, or had a pro check it out with a hands-on inspection. Even if I had to pay the pro. 0 -
I see what you mean about the mag tube; it looks almost new, yet the rest of the rifle has zero original finish. And, the seller describes it as "all factory finish"? No close ups, but it's being sold AS/IS?
As for future appreciation, you have to ask yourself, "Would I pay more or less for a gun with a mutilated stock?" Personally, I've never bought a gun seeking appreciation; I just buy what I like.

Hello,
I agree that the magazine is most likely not original to the gun. Get the serial number to determine the age of the rifle. Also to check the Cody records BEFORE any deal is made. If the gun is not in its original configuration that will be a far greater influence on the current and future value than the initials in the butt stock. You also need to absolutely clarify the return policy. His Inspection Period / Return Policy Unspecified could put you at a great disadvantage if his rifle is bogus and your trade gun plus cash are in much better condition.

I agree however I have inherited around 200 guns and I had about the same. Of these guns 75% are toys and or hunting guns. The rest are family guns or collectors. I'm trying to build a collection of Winchesters because I like them. But on the same token could be used in retirement if needed. I'm really struggling to find good mid range guns. And according to recent studies this range grew value the best. Thanks again for all your help!!!0
