MDL 94 Comm. Magazine ring needed
Recently purchased a WINCHESTER model CENTENNIAL 66 in 30-30 CAL., with 26" barrel. I bought it as a shooter. The rifle was indeed like new in the box but had never been cleaned. The original lube had all gotten hard and crusty and the finish looked less than desirable. After about 2 hrs. of carefully working it back and forth I finally got the magazine tube removed, however for whatever reason the magazine ring split on the left side, all I had done to it was drive out the pin and work the tube through the ring. The tube came straight out. The ring itself seemed brittle, it is dovetailed and heavier than the turn of the century rifles I have, and their rings are more of a light steel type material. Any suggestions on where I might score a replacement ring for a vintage 66 commemorative rifle? I am guessing there is a parts source out there somewhere.

Glad you found a tube hanger.
I think you might be pleased with the gun as a 'shooter'. I had one identical to the one you describe, that I bought when they were being produced. I picked a spot to shoot for regulating the sights, which would only allow 80 yards, so I set the target at that distance. I fired two fouling shots, loaded the magazine, and put all eight rounds in the magazine into less than 1/2 inch. Compared to the pre-64's, the internals were crap, but there was sure nothing wrong with the way Winchester still made their pipes.0
