TAURUS 1911
hoping to get some insite on these, reliabilty, quality, accracy. Basicly are they a good gun for the money or should a guy throw some more $ in and go for a smith or somthing. I'm looking for a good 1911 to throw rounds down range and enjoy. there are so many out there now that any info would be appriciated. thanks

Has any one tried out the new Taurus 1911? It sounds like a lot of pistol with all the mods and at a fair price new. 0 -
Sure are, with some fitting. Fit a 9mm barrel to my 38super [;)] 0 -
Depends on what you mean by interchangeable. If you mean plug-n-play, then the answer is no. As far as I know, all barrels on a 1911, should be fitted, for proper lockup, and release. Once a barrel is fitted, then it is a matter of just swapping barrels, recoil springs, and magazines, provided your breech face/extractor will let you, dependent on the cartridge you are switching to.
As far as other small parts go, I know the safeties, for sure are not standard, and am not sure about the rest of the parts. Some South American, and Asian made firearms, use a different standard parts/machining list. A good example happens to be the sight dovetails...some are standard , and some are their own 28 degree, making standard sights here obscure.
Just a FYI, on some imports.

I have a Taurus 1911 in 38 Super. I have updated several small parts, including the firing pin, without issues.

Are parts such as barrels interchangable with colt parts?
I think TSR has it.
Some parts are standard, but need fitting (eg barrels), some parts are standard and effectively interchangeable (eg springs, mags, grips, most other parts), and some parts are proprietary (ie the Taurus 1911 sights are non-standard).
I think the question here is what parts are you interested in swapping and why?0
