Richards Microfit Stocks
I am thinking of sporterizing an old military rifle. This company sells stocks that will fit. I can get a pretty good stock made of California Claro Walnut for $107.
Are these good stocks? This stock is supposedly 99 percent fit to the gun when shipped.

I am looking at their laminated stocks for my M70 WSSM.
I know they make what I want....I am just wondering if any one here has had any dealings with the company or have any of their stocks.
Any info will be helpful.

I got a Richards some years back for a Win M52 and it took very little fitting- primarily along the barrel channel (bull barrel) and the trigger guard. Less than an hour of cutting/sanding. I got one that was on close-out- I think because of the color. It's laminated Blue and Grey. I don't care for the looks, but it does help the rifle to shoot very well. 0 -
Richard's is local to me. I have over the years bought eight or more of their stocks and have been very happy with them. Particularly because I can walk in the door and brose the stocks on hand for my choice of price vs figure. 0 -
I have bought MANY stocks from Richards and every one of them has been wonderful, very little clean up for fitting and each of the walnut stocks you receive are a grade higher then ordered. I would highly recommend them. 0 -
One of the things I like about them is that when I call them, I'm pretty sure I can smell the walnut over the phone! 0 -
I have bought both their solid walnut stocks and their laminates, both are excellent values for the $. 0 -
Allen....be prepared to do quite a bit of finish work.
I got one a couple of years ago and was very disappointed with how much I had to do.0 -
I used one of their stocks on a Mannlicher Schoenauer rifle and they added an ebony forend and the overall stock turned out good but it took a lot of work (e.g., mixed two ton epoxy and saw dust to fill some gaps and build up some areas and that California claro walnut took forever to seal). I look at the stock from time to time and rub/polish some linseed oil into the wood and it looks a little bid better each time I do it. 0 -
The last stock I ordered from these meatheads was shipped wrong 3 times; they just do not understand. I used these guys in years past no problems. Will never use again. 0
