308 Win (7.62x51mm) necked down to 6mm is the 243 Win
7mm Mauser (7x57mm) necked down to 6mm is the 244 Rem / 6mm Rem (same cartridge, different twist rate in the barrel)
Give the length of the case in mm, to make ID a little easier
There are a ton of others (wildcats and factory) but the 2 above are among the most common.0 -
50.8mm 0 -
guys I cant get a photo to work. ive tried to sign up for all 3 and it wont let me activate 0 -
The 243W is actually a little more than a 308W necked down. The 243 case is 52mm long. But 50.8mm could be a 243 that has been trimmed, or is shorter than the maximum.
If you have any kind of link to a photo, you can post us and one of us could show it using one of the host sites such as TinyPic.

Looks like a new 308W or 7.62mm NATO to me. What is the headstamp? 0 -
the empty is a 308, the other says match lc 63 0 -
You have a 7.62mm NATO XM118 MATCH cartridge. Manufactured by Lake City Arsenal in 1963. That was the first year that LC manufactured the 7.62mm match ammunition so it is a little more collectable than those from later years. But, don't get too excited. You haven't won the lottery. It's still a $1 to $2 cartridge.
It is loaded with a 173 grain FMJ boattail bullet, IMR 4895 powder, to a spec velocity of 2550 fp.

Do you have the original box? If so, what is the lot number? I collect match ammo and am always looking for certain lots.
They will shoot in any 308W rifle in good condition.0 -

I must have missed something. How did we get from "6mm" to selling 308 match ammo? 0
