Savage model 30 extractor help
I got some help here and managed to get the bolt slide stop working as it should. Everything was fine until I DROPPED THE BOLT!! Left side extractor bent in flush with the bolt face.
As I look for parts, I see there were a couple of left extractors made for this series of shotguns, including the Stevens as well. Not sure which one to get.
In the meantime, I dremeled (is that a word?)one out of drill stock, but 1) don't have the exact measurements from the original 2) don't understand the functional differences between the right side vs. left side extractors and plungers. The left side plunger has a flat on one side of the tip. I'm assuming that is to somehow allow or provide for a difference in extractor holding strength and movement, perhaps when the shell is brought back against the ejector. What is the function of the flat on that side of the extractor plunger? Is there a strength or length difference between the extractor springs?
Thanks!

Different part numbers and parts, and yes, made different for case ejection.

Thanks TRAP55. I know why right and left are different, and I've stared at the schematic for a week!. The listing for the left hand extractor says "W/O Guideblock" - wondering what that means. The one I made is actually working OK. So I wasn't asking about right/left differences, but possible different Left hand extractors. And spring identification.
Now, I'm on to why the firing pin is making small dents with misfires in Remington factory shells. The little spring on the firing pin tip which retracts the pin appears fine. The mainspring which drives the hammer may be compressed - the hammer has some free travel from the fired position back to where it engages the plunger. Bolt and slide show only minor wear with no peening. Polished the hammer bushing.
Found a new condition extractor, the one Numrich has is used and looks worn.
