Colt post war NM 6 digit serial number
Here are my findings. This Colt was MFG. in November 1959. Is seems there were sone 20 to 30 commercial serial number frame made or converted to National Match pistols. So says Colt!
My conclusions are this is a rare variation of the post war National Match pistol. I have three of these pistols and they are all within 75 numbers. Colt told me they are mostly in the low 274xxxNM. One of mine is in the 2739xxNM range. I have been looking at post war NM's for years and never have seen them. Then one day I found 2 and bought both a week later I found a third and purchased it as well. there out there so get looking. I know I am. Please let me know if you have found one or already have one, I would love to exchange information. I can be reached ar 217-585-1911 John

INTERESTING of course the civilian models MOST all had the letter C in front of the serial # and pre war National match guns did also 1957 saw the first STANDARD national match with the -NM after the serial # 1959 would have the digits 283800-284999 and 1960 would have digits 285000-
288000 but the C moved to the rear sometime in EDIT YES finger check hit the 6 instead of 5 should have read 1950instead of 1960 production. Does you pistols have the extra wide trigger of the Gold cup.[?]or is it standard width [?][?][?][?]That would tell if the frame was originally machined as a Standard Government model and then marked as a NM0 -
I had the Colt get me a letter on this number shown. There letter shows ( I am at work and can't remember that day) a manufacture and shipping date in November 1959. Of course I was hoping for a 1956 or 1957 manufacture date. 0 -
The C was moved to the rear in 1950 at 240288-C. 0 -
