    You have to contact Remington to date a Remington built marlin.
    Serial number will start with MR
    Proof mark will be REP instead of JM on the barrel.

    I guess you guys eyes have had your corneas burnt from glare- or have not seen a Marlin 36 or 39. Such the pity.
