marlin 308MX DOM
I purchased a NIB marlin 308 MX stainless lever action from Gateway Outfitters on 5-15-2009.
SER# 93234335.
The JM stamp on the barrel does not look right to me.
I am concerned as to whether or not it was made prior to the marlin takeover.
Can someone tell me the DOM of my rifle and or when the takeover happened?

January 2008 was the last month of COMPLETE MARLIN ONLY CONTROL.
CERBERUS/FREEDOM GROUP/REMINGTON bought us at the end of that month.
Summer 2009 things started to DRASTICALLY CHANGE as our new owners implemented THEIR GREAT IDEAS.
ALL the Assembly Equipment Machinery and Benches were "Bagged & Tagged", then sent to REMINGTON in Ilion,NY & Mayfield,KY.
That took place in August 2010, so that is the Last Time the "JM" Proofmark was ever struck. So those would have been the FINAL North Haven,CT Marlins ever made."0 -
From your serial number built 2007.
The JM proof mark may not look right due to wear of the stamp.
Remington was not allowed to use the JM proof mark, so it would not get repaired/replaced with the Company changing hands.
Remington built will have REP proof mark0 -
