1911 Questions: What Interchanges?
Picked up a .45 mutt. RMT SS frame with an original Colt Commander slide. Some nice parts aftermarket like hammer, trigger, beavertail safety.
Anyway, I will probably sell the Colt Commander slide. It's 90% with original sights. Should fetch a good dollar?
Will a 5" or 6" longslide fit this frame?
4-1/4" barrel has absolutely no markings - could it be Colt, too?
Would really like to have a 6" with adjustable sights.

Is it a commander or gov't sized frame?
the dust cover, the part of the frame in front of the trigger guard is about 1.5 " on the commander , 2" on the gov't.
if you have a gov't frame, a 5" slide will be a perfect fit, if not , a gap [bad] would be open with a 5 or 6" unless the slide is specifically made to fit a commander size frame.
I wouldn't put money into a mutt frame.. too many variables and unless you are a 1911 gunsmith or extremely talented , imho don't
yes a good, unmodified colt slide will fetch good money. The unmarked barrel ? probably a mutt too.0 -
All Colt Commander barrels were mark with it's caliber ( Colt.45 Auto, Colt Super.38 Auto, Cal.9MM.Luger and of course .30 Luger) on top of the barrel hood. 0 -
Well, then the barrel is a mutt...... Thanks!!!!!! 0
