What is the big deal with primers? You drop the hammer and they go BANG. Why are Eley better than others? Any difference in function with rim or center fire?

  Can you tell me if Winchester ever used silver primers in their .356 ammo? I thought they always used brass primers.

  About 30 years ago I used a lot of CCI 200 and found them to be interchangeable with regard to pressure, with Win 8 1/2-120 and Fed 210 primers of the day. Since that time Winchester has changed the name of their primer to WLR but I find the old Win primers are interchangeable with the new primers. No if the CCI 200 primers have remained constant, I don't know. I'd recommend when switching that you drop a few grains and see if things are okay before working up to the top loads.

  I use both and cannot honestly tell any difference in the two. Chronograph readings are always with in a few feet of each other assuming all else being the same .
