When did vent ribs show up?

I have a model 11 Remington 20 ga. that the barrel code says 1941. I have seen plenty of solid ribs from earlier and I have tried to find on various websites and cannot find an answer. The vent rib on this IC choked barrel appears to be factory and not aftermarket applied.

  I'd guess somewhere in the early 40's.

  Winchester patented their first Vent Rib the year 1919, and immediately began offering it on the Model 12. I highly suspect that Remington would not have been too far behind them.
