Unusual Remington Express rolled crimp shell
It is stamped C.S. on the end where the load data or shot size usually is. What does C.S.mean

I think it's one of those tear gas shells.

Could be "Cube Shot" as in square not round meant to be used as a thicket load. Produces a more open pattern in tight choked bores for like rabbits at close range in a duck gun.0 -

Chilled Shot.
golferboy426 - Asking a minimum of $50 for something that even you do not know what it is seems kinda odd to me. Why not lift the top wad and see what it is?
If I were to bid $50 and win it, only to find out it was #7 shot, would you refund the $50 plus shipping?

i can barely see the shot size number under the roll 0 -
I'd say that is not likely but maybe. Remington would mark the shot size somewhere and if chilled either notes for example 4c or the word chilled. I'd sure like some sort of proof and I'm not disturbing the top. There could be an 8 written in pencil laterally. I've seen thousands of vintage remington shells and have never seen one like this 0 -
From the looks of the crimp I'd guess that someone has already peeked inside.

True that 12 gauge tear gas shells have been made, but when it comes to this sort of stuff it's referred to as CS, not C.S. Such shells were also direct burst CS powder and this shell is marked 'Long Range'.
I'd come closer to saying those letters on a shell as old as this refers to chilled shot.
What throws me is that the shot size isn't specified.0
