Remington 700/721 Question this time.

    Yes and yes. As to #2, most of the 721's had a lump on the barrel for the rear sight dovetail, and the bolt handle is straight down rather than the rear-ward angle on the 700. And, of course, the bottom metal is different. While I haven't done it, I believe a little tweaking here and there should do it.

    In the last year or so of 721/722 production, the barrels were similar to the early 700's. Same length (shortened from 24-26" to 22-24") and same sights. Early 700 receiver bridge had the same "notch" that the 721/722 had. I believe they did a kind of "running change" from one to the other.
