1908 Colt .25 Problem

I bought 1 1908 Colt .25 and found the magazine catch is not working, it does not move. You can not tell when the mag is empty, it sits up into the magazine well, although with a little pressure you can pull it out. When loaded the magazine protrudes because the catch does not engage it. The magazine catch does not move forward at all. Any ideas? Everything else on the gun works properly.

  added Will it move forward without the magazine in place? Maybe its got some clone replacement parts in it. I thick the pistol was copied by various makers.
  
  You need hands on help IMHO, it's too hard to examine the problem from here.

  That grip safety spring is good and strong. I cleaned the area real well. It looks very simple in the schematic, but that magazine catch will just not move forward.
