Probably.
I had a 1954 Super 38 with a Series 70 barrel in it. Worked fine.0 -
The Series 70 barrel will have a bulge in it near the muzzle for the spring-finger bushing that was used. Need to make sure the bushing you use will locate the barrel without binding it in operation. 0 -
I want to replace a Series 70 barrel with a bulge near the muzzle and the spring-finger bushing with a Series 80 barrel.
Brownells has a large selection of barrel bushings, what would you recommend ?0 -
You need to match the bushing To the diameter of the barrel . For this You need to mic the barrel and then order a bushing. Be aware the barrel tips down at the back so a one thousands clearance will bind as the barrel tips down . There is one bushing that has a Floating Ball
within the bushing this prevents binding as the slide cycles . In my opinion the stock series 70 takes in to account this with the spring finger Bushing. Again unless you have fitted a barrel to slide and barrel to bushing before and have the knowledge and tools to fit barrel hood /locking lugs / Slide stop/ barrel link/ and bushing most likely you may end up with a pistol that shoots worst than the one that you have with stock parts. I don't want to throw cold water on your project
just trying to give you some food for thought. "PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN " Karl AKA PERRY SHOOTER0 -
I just got my new .38 Super barrel from BarSto and it came with a nice fitted bushing. The only thing I had to do was some light stoning on the hood for perfect fit. I have used their barrels for years and highly recommend them. Their Super barrels are set up to headspace on the case mouth for better alignment. 0 -
YES!!!!! They are to the same spec. Lock up will be the same. The only difference is the series 70 has the barrel under cut .800 behind the muzzle to a diameter of .472 on the series 70 while the muzzel is the standard .579 +/-. If you have the non fat barrel you will need a bushing to match that. 0
