Colt Python Price
A guy here has a 1980 4" Nickle Python, 99% no box. He wants $1500. What do you think as an investment?

Python's are selling for considerably more that that, on the auctions. Sometimes when the deal sounds to good to be true, it turns out that way.
Have a pro do a hands on to be sure that the finish is factory. Or post quality close up photos here. Bunch of our guys are Colt collectors. With quality close-ups, they might be able to verify that it's O
K.
Mirror finish nickel is tough to photograph, without the proper equipment though. Tenting it with diffused lighting is the only way, to get high quality accurate photos.0 -
I don't think I could invest in it at that price, however I would be willing to shoot it every chance I got at that price. 0 -
These Python prices have doubled in the last 7-8 years. I just wonder if they have anywhere left to go. 0 -

I've been looking at pythons for years, thinking "these are way too expensive" and every time I do the prices still go up.
Its crazy, but these are just a highly desirable collectors' gun . . .my bet is they'll still appreciate.0 -
$1500 is a good price if its an original finish and in good condition. Since Pythons have been out of production for about 18 years the rise in prices was predictable.
They were the Cadillac of the Colt revolver line for over 40 years, so since they were discontinued they have sky rocketed in value. I paid $155 for my first one, a 4" blued, in 1972.0 -
AT $1500 I would be all over it. As an investment, can't beat a Python. Ain't making any more of them and they are like Rolex watches....just keep going up in value. I have one just like this one (no box, 4" but in blue) that I would not let go for any less than this one...and in ten years worth more. 0 -
Instead of waiting till this gets to 10 post limit, you better be getting your a$$ over to get that, before it dissappears on you. What you waiting for?!!!! Get over there and get it!

In 1975 a new one cost $350. Adjusted for inflation would put it around $1500 now. Also, 4inch brings more than 6" and nickel more than blue ( I hate nickel )!!! So, I'd say worth it IF ORIGINAL !! 0
