Junior 22LR ammo
I have come across a brick of Junior 22LR Ammunition. Made in Russia. Label says "with brass cases". Is it worth anything as a colletors item or just something to plink with? Rumor has it that this is the type of ammo the Russians used to kick butt at the Olypics back in the day.

Brass cases seem unusual. Doubtful it is match ammo.0 -
It might only function in revolvers? Bought some Russian ammo awhile back, that supposedly was "target" ammo. It wouldn't cycle any of my semi-auto pistols. Wound up giving to away, to a guy with a single action.
I was quite put out, as the vendor I bought it from, assured me it was high class stuff.0 -
Russian Junior .22lr ammo runs the spectrum from very good target ammo to just plain junk.
It has been made in very different quality controls and offered in an array of boxes/colors that mean nothing to what you are getting.
It is hit and miss {no pun intended} to guess if you got a good batch
or not.
Just use it up, but watch for squib loads that get stuck in the barrel. if the box you are shooting, "sounds" different from shot to shot.0 -
I bought a brick about 25 years ago. It had steel cases and the greasiest lube you can imagine. I thought I would never get it used up. It would not eject; the steel cases swelled. When I fired it in a side-swing revolver I had to whack the ejector rod with a hammer handle to get the cases out. Now that I think about it, I believe I threw the last few boxes in a river. 0 -

I had a carton of the same stuff. I scraped the grease off and used it to lubricate a fleet of 36 locomotives. I shot up the ammo, a little at a time. It was slow because I had to extract every empty with a small screwdriver. Yet somehow, their 7.62x54 is marvelous, go figger that.0
