It's all about the barrel, and overall lengths. The over and under with the shotgun barrel. The shotgun barrel has to be 18" long. minimum. The telescoping stock rifle is OK with a barrel of at least 16", but has to measure at least 26", with the stock collapsed.

Agree with Rufe- except that is 26 inches overall IN THE FIRING MODE. There were survival guns that have barrels less than the 16" rifle/ 18" shotgun, and they ARE NFA firearms that must have been registered as (I THINK) as an AOW.

EDIT- Hicap, you are correct, and I should have been more specific- the M4 can be fired with the stock collapsed. However, the M6 folds in half for storage, and ends up as 15" overall when folded.

Rufe-snow is correct........This rifle can be fired with or without the stock being extended....

Some folks have welded on a Muzzle break to the M-4 to extend the barrel to over 16" making it legal length

The only AOW with a rifle stock:

The weird legal exception for this over under smooth/rifled bore combo is the reason so many people think you can transfer an sbr shotgun as a $5 aow

Hoover- respectfully disagree- the Game Getter is not
the only AOW with a shoulder stock.

From Title 26, US Code, Section 5845, Para e, definitions-
    e) Any other weapon
The term "any other weapon" means any weapon or device capable of being concealed on the person from which a shot can be discharged through the energy of an explosive, a pistol or revolver having a barrel with a smooth bore designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell, weapons with combination shotgun and rifle barrels 12 inches or more, less than 18 inches in length, from which only a single discharge can be made from either barrel without manual reloading, and shall include any such weapon which may be readily restored to fire. Such term shall not include a pistol or a revolver having a rifled bore, or rifled bores, or weapons designed, made, or intended to be fired from the shoulder and not capable of firing fixed ammunition.

Believe the M6 meets that definition.

You got a letter from the feds stating a original M 6, made in the 50's. That wasn't registered in the 1968 amnesty. Is legal to own as a Any Other Weapon. I would like to see it?

That is a M-6 or M-6 replica. Legal in all states as far as I know. .22 or .22 Hornet over a .410 lower.
