I have the best results with CCI Mini Mags, 40gr plated, in both my MKII 22-45s. They will eat just about anything, but for what I use them for, CCI 40gr is the stuff.

My experience with Ruger auto .22s is that they tend to run most ammo just fine. If you're having reliability issues, a simple cleaning and lubrication sometimes helps.

To answer the question, standard weight for .22LR bullets is 40 grains, and most .22 guns are designed to run this ammo in particular. Every .22LR I've ever used that had a preference for ammo preferred 40 grain round-nose ammo.

Usually its the bulk-pack, "promotional" high velocity hollowpoint 36 grain bullets that cause functioning issues.

As to exact brand/make, CCI minimags have been designed specifically with copper plated 40 grain round nose bullets driven at high velocity to run well in everything. Assuming you can actually find any for sale, these will probably serve you well.

Personally, I've had good results with just the "ordinary" CCI 40 grain ammo, and that may be a little easier to find (plus cheaper).

I've also had good results with the Federal .22LR "automatch" ammo. That's another 40 grain round-nose type ammo designed specifically to function semi-auto .22LR guns well. Haven't seen any of this stuff for sale in quite a while. . .not even sure its still being made.
