Leverevolution ammo
I have heard that this ammo is fine to load in a lever action rifle even though it has a pointed composite tip. I would like to try these in my 30/30. Anyone use them? Any problems? Thanks for all info.

Is it OK to shoot the new LeveRevolution ammo by Hornady in older Marlin lever action rifles? I know the LeveRevolution innovation enables better ballistics with pointed plastic-tip bullets, as opposed to the older rounded bullet tips demanded by tubular magazines. But do the LeveRevolution rounds operate at greatly increased pressures? 0 -
That's exactly what they were designed for. The tip is soft enough to not accidently detonate primers is the mag. tube. 0 -
I've used them in a couple different rifles, they work great and are deadly on deer. they do not shoot to the same point of aim in my rifle so you may have to resight. the rifle. 0 -
I use them and they have about half the drop rate of standard 30-30 bullets 0 -
Used them in a Marlin 336 35 rem and they grouped very well and have done an excellent job on deer. I have been very satisfied with them. 0 -
To my great disappointment, they do not group as well or to the same point of aim as round nose in my rifles. I could re-aim, but the poor grouping mystifies me. 0 -

The whole point of this ammo is to feed safely through tubular magazine lever action rifles.
Hence the name "lever-evolution"
They get better muzzle velocity and retain it better than standard flat-nose lever-type 30-30 bullets. Of course point of aim is going to be different than standard ammo. . .if it weren't the ballistics would be the same and there would be little point to using this ammo to begin with!0 -
Tried it in a couple of my 30-30s. In the Rem. 788, point of impact didn't change much but in the Marlin 336, 13-14" higher than my slightly underloaded 180 gr. RN handloads that the gun seems to like (all the power I need for neck shooting). 0 -
Thanks for all the comments. Very good info. I knew they were specially made for the lever action but I had never heard much discussion on them. 0
