Hey guys! Is this a PIGEON GRADE Winchester?
This one is not as pretty as the pigeon grades typically are, but it has the markings of a pigeon grade Winchester. It also doesn't have a machined bolt, but I read that they didn't actually do that to every pigeon grade Winchester that was built during the war era. What are your ideas on this set???

Casey,
No, it is not a Pigeon grade Model 12. The fact of the matter is that it has been reworked and refinished. There are numerous signs that it has been polished and reblued. The checkering is very sloppy on one of the barrel assemblies. The Pigeons were added after the fact.0 -
Wonderful.....I will add info to the description to straighten things out. We had two brought to us at the same time an they are both inventoried to us as pigeons.
Thank you Bert!!!0 -
Kasey,
Bert is right on the money, it's not even a trap grade.
Basically, it's just a model 12 ribbed, 2 barrel set, and not a really nice one.
Sorry, didn't mean to pee on or Post Toasties.

Kasey, made in 1942, not 1943.
Bert, was a two barrel set common on a Field grade gun?0 -

No, it was not. I suspect that one of the barrel assemblies is not factory original.0 -
That's why I asked, I thought so too.

Bert-You certainly lend a whole lot of factorial info to this site. I'm sure all are appreciative of your knowledge. 0
