Sub gauge shotgun inserts and pressure
Question, concerning sub gauge chamber inserts (not full length) such as 16 ga fired in 12 ga, 20 ga fired in 16 ga chamber. Is the pressure reduced due to the larger bore firing a sub gauge ? If a 16 ga is chambered for 2 1/2 and a sub gauge 20 2 3/4 is fired is the pressure less due to the over bore size with a smaller wad of the sub gauge.? Is the shot velocity less?

Lots of gas goes past the wad. 0 -
I have a 20 o/u in which I use savage 410'ers for skeet. I have not noticed any difference in lead or target breaking ability. I can regularly break 22-23 and sometimes 25 0 -
Probably loose some range & velocity due to pressure loss. 0 -

They made sense when .410s were far cheaper than 20s or 12s. That was LONG ago. .410s are too expensive now. I can't even reload them anymore since I wore out all the paper shells I had. I tried the
#@&&!) plastic shells & I can't get the crimp to hold.0
